Recirculating hydroponics: New Growing System (NGS)

The recirculating hydroponics crop (NGS) is characterized by its great versatility as it can be implanted anywhere, this is especially important for developing countries as it is capable of producing food efficiently in mountainous areas as well as arid regions and urban areas (on terraces or roof tops). In densely populated tourist areas, or where rising land prices have driven traditional agriculture out of the area, hydroponics can provide high-quality specialized local crops.

What is hydroponics?

Hydroponics is the science, art and technique of growing plants without substrate, where the essential elements for growth and development are provided by a nutrient solution that provides all the nutrients that plants need.

New Growing System (NGS)

The NGS system is a recirculating hydroponics cultivation method without substrate, especially suitable for growing vegetables, strawberries and red fruits. This technique allows crops to grow in an optimal environment where they receive water, oxygen and all the nutrients needed at the right time. The NGS system represents a cultivation system that produces high quality crops, without substrate, through the use of a combination of water with nutrients.

The advantages of using the NGS recirculating hydroponics system compared to a traditional substrate system are:

1. Less water consumption, between 70% and 95%

2. Less fertilizers by around 50%

3. Reuse of surplus water and nutrients, reducing costs

4. Local climatic conditions are completely controlled in a greenhouse.

5. Highest density of plants per m2 without artificial light, which means higher production.

6. No contamination since fertilizers and pesticides are not applied to the substrate and no soil born disease. No aquifer contamination.
