Maximum Production and Minimum Energy Consumption for Super Intensive Strawberry and Blueberry Production

The NGS system offers a competitive edge in berry cultivation.

Super-intensive crops need a technology that meets their demanding cultivation requirements. In that sense, the NGS system is perfect to satisfy these requirements and provide a competitive edge in berry cultivation.

Blueberry cultivation in the new Recirculating Hydroponic System yields a density of 10,000 plants per hectare, having planting standards commensurate with the strength of each variety, with less substrate volume than in pots, and with less water and fertilizer consumption.

Other benefits of the NGS System

Other benefits of using this system include minimum energy consumption, with up to 4 irrigation cycles per day, as well as greater control over the crop to bring forward or delay production, and to improve size and brix degrees.

The target is to maximize production per square meter with better use of space, fewer pest and disease problems due to greater aeration, and earlier production, since 500 grams per plant are harvested in the first year, and then 2 to 3 kilos per plant from the second year onwards.

In addition, since plants are 40 centimeters above the ground, harvesting is easier and faster, thus providing an advantage when it comes to agricultural work planning.

In the case of strawberries, the NGS Rotational System meets the needs of growers, who require greater farm profitability without having to make significant changes to the equipment they use regularly.

Like the other systems, the NGS Rotational System uses the NGS Duo Multilayer Gutter, a guarantee of excellent results in all the countries where it is used. New Growing System‘s R&D department has designed a model which, in a macrotunnel with a width of only 6.5 meters, can accommodate up to 10 rows of crops.

This innovation means 15,300 linear meters of crop per hectare, that is, 153,000 pl/ha with a plant spacing of 20 cm, or 204,000 pl/ha when plant spacing is 15 centimeters.

The NGS Rotational System automatically positions the crop in the best location for photosynthesis, without limiting the production capacity of each plant and without hindering harvesting.
